Question 01 Viggen Claim History Report (Might be buying this one)

Well, I test drove a 2001 Viggen, 3 door, 93k Km's. I'm 50/50 on trading in the Talladega for it. I know my car will have some expanses coming up as it's age (152k Km's) is starting to show a bit. Suspension might be $1500, 2 engine mounts $200, clutch? fuel pump? I am also a year from paying it off, witch is what makes this soooo hard of a decision.
My monthly payment would only increase by $50 a month, so that's cool. But the 5 year term is not so attractive.

Anyhow... the Viggen drove well. Stock wheels felt true. Has Michelin Pilot all season with good tread left on it. (My winter tires are on 15" rims so I would have to get all new set to fit the Viggen.) Bottom of front bumper has one hair line crack and scrapes on the bottom. Dealer said they will have the body shop fix this. No dents, paint is good. Car is clean, engine bay looks good. Brake pads look like they have 2 year left in them. Interior is awesome.

The big plus is that the dealer will switch my Saab sport exhaust to fit the Viggen if I get it. Also I can save my rear sway bar, steering rack clamp/brace, boost gauge, K&N air filter. I have the stock stuff to put back.

I feel it's time for a change. I would prefer a 5 door sine my wife and I have a little 11 month old, but her Toyota is the primary family car. The Viggen would get a baby seat for the odd time I need it.

Below is the claim report on the Viggen.
There are to references to Ignition Cassette. One refers to "Left" WTF?
Also the cylinder head gasket was done. Good or bad sign?
What do you guys think?

Yeah that sounds like a pretty good deal. As long as the dealer has good records of it and it feels tight, than probably means it was well taken care of. I happen to think the steel grey is one of the cleaner looking colors for a viggen, could be biased as theres one in the driveway but not in the rare 3 dr!

I think it sounds like a good deal, especially if the baby only travels with you occasionally. There are few better ways to wreck your back than strapping a wriggly toddler into a car seat....

Thanks for all the comments. I'm fairly sure I'm going to get it now. I am going to take it for a few hours tomorrow and have a nice private test drive and really look it over. I'll let you guys know how it shakes down.

Ya, the transmission module reprogramming this is a bit odd. I will ask about it.

Those are rare in that color... or in general I guess.

I've only ever seen 1 steel grey Viggen in person.

i think steel grey was actually the most popular color for the viggen.

Actually black was the most produced at 922 folowed by Steel Grey at 774, the rest fall as:
Blue: 504
silver: 458
Red: 206
Yellow: 68

Thats the total run from 1999-2002 and does not include the few black, silver and yellow made in 1999.

Well, it's all but official. Will be a Viggen owner this Saturday. Should get confirmation today from the dealer. Very happy and excited but at the same time, my heart is broken giving up the Talladega. I was pulling mods off last night and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. It's amazing how much I got attached to that car. Damn!

I will soon have the mbc anticipator kit for sale for T5. The dawes MBC is not included. I know some people here might want this kit. Also some smoke side repeaters and a radio harness kit (new) bought from GS. Will post next week with pictures and when I have time.

Fun stuff to go on the Viggen immediately will be 22mm sway bar, steering clamp and brace, Saab sport exhaust, clear corners. And boost gauge later... want to mount this nicely ...pod?

I'll post more pics of the Viggen later.
