Getting Brake Light Failure message - and yes the right rear is out

After reading some of the posts I don't want to get in there and set something else off. The odd thing is I had a trunk full today and am wondering if I may have knocked something loose. I'm not much of a car person (fix it wise) and would really appreciate some guidance and pointers. Thanks to all that can help! Love my new Saab though - first I've ever owned.

These are some funny smileys = wish I could get them in other apps!

Most auto part stores will be willing to put a brake light bulb in for you.

Otherwise, it's not that hard...
Open the hatch, you will see a small access panel directly behind the tail light, open the flap.
I believe there are some tabs to release and the back of the taillight pulls out with the bulbs attached.
Simply swap out the burnt bulb, usually the glass has a black tinge to it.

OK, searching for a solution and found this thread. Just got a 96, 900se and the rear brake light on the right side keeps going out and I can't fix it. Replaced bulbs, replaced the whole inner frame, checked wires. Any suggestions? BTW this car is the first saab that requires you to "test" the rear brakes after you start it. I'm on my 16th or 17th ranging from 1978 to 2001 and it's a first. (sorry for the thread hijack, but i'm lazy tonight.)

My 9-3 said that.
Apparently, the 9-5 doesn't care.

Are the bulbs actually blowing, or are you just getting errors?
