Engine Installation

Has anyone successfully installed an engine with an auto trans already bolted on? It looks doable with a leveler.

EDIT: From the top

OK, I'm out. I've only gone in from the bottom. Would be super tight.

Good point, guess I could use the engine hoist on the front end of the car and lower it on top.

I don't think it's possible from the top w/trans attached. I lowered/tilted an engine/manual trans into position and it wasn't even close. Maybe you could do it no manifolds...a full long block and trans is too big

I did this, was looking for a picture and haven't found it. I forget what exactly I lifted from, somewhere near the radiator. You will already have the subframe disconnected, so there isn't a lot of beefy metal left

Engine Removal with Hoist ONLY

OK. Found 'em. You have to take the radiator out. Sorry that this is post removal pics, but you should get the idea:

Disconnect Engine, Subframe, Radiator. Lift Car:

Slide Pesky Engine Out of Way:

Lower Car:

Realize Car doesn't roll on trailer with no subframe, improvise:

Continue Improvising:

Keep Going:

Take Shell to yard, throw away:

Almost crash loader into tow vehicle because you didn't know that loader didn't have functioning brakes, then remove car and have fun smashing it a little:

Installation is the reverse of removal.

So I jacked the car up with some wood and was able to get it high enough to fit the engine with trans attached underneath. Boy did that go in easy.

thanks for the tips all.
