Key battery

My '01 9-3S has the fancy remote entry that has the remote built into the key (as all remotes should be), and I've been getting the SID message "REPLACE KEY BATTERY" for some time now. Consulting the manual (and opening the battery compartment on the key), I find the necessary battery is a CR 1632 3V coin battery. I've looked everywhere to find one - drugstores, Wal-Mart, RadioShack, and even a store called Batteries+ that specializes in batteries. No luck anywhere, and I've been told by two separate salespeople that there is no such thing as a 1632 - they say that number doesn't exist!

So now I'm coming to you, my esteemed colleagues, for help. Where can I find this battery??? It's driving me crazy!!!

Thanks,
John

Thanks, but I've already googled it. Found a battery for $1.11, but shipping will be close to $6. I'm not too keen on that. I'm hoping for maybe a chain of stores that might have one so I don't have to pay absurd shipping charges.

I think the batteries are about $5 at work - my cost. Perhaps less, can't recall. I prolly have a few spares in my box at work - I'll check their power and part #'s

I got 2 for $5 at my local dealer. Getting the cover off is a bitch though. Don't believe them with the pin or punch, you need to really push it, I ended up using a thin awl. Be prepared to be frustrated.

I've been getting the same thing for a few days now. This doesn't mean the battery in the remote fob, right? They mean the transponder battery in the actual key? So I'm guessing if I don't replace it soon, some ghastly and expensive thing will happen to my car...

know its the battery in the key FOB...the key doesnt have a battery for the transponder, its simply a RFID tag in the Key.

The 2001+ keys are all in one styles so the FOB is part of the KEY...I still have to get my new key cut so I can use the new style key
