radio/tape combo could be replaced by cd/tape combo?

I have the tape/radio headunit combo in my 1995 NG900. Do you think the CD/radio headunit combo from a 1999 9-3 would work properly in my car? Is it more difficult to plug in or I only need the same plugs and do nothing else? (see pics)

How about a swap between 9-3 units? I've got a CD unit right now, but I'd kill for a tape unit so I could get better sound from my iPod through the tape unit.

Any thoughts? (And, yes, I've seen the brain surgery schematic to hardwire my iPod and I'm just not that darn daring.)

yeah you should be able to swap to a tape unit form another 9-3, it would just require you to go to the dealer, and it the other unit married to your car. And you should have th cd player divorced from the car so you can seel it

Aireeca there's a much easier way to wire in an iPod that only involves splicing 2 wires. Ad you get near CD quality sound. I'll post a link when I get home.

Well, I'm still after that cure in a sense. My good transmitter finally called it quits this summer after four years. The replacement I bought sucks.

I'm sure Paul or I could figure this out for you...I've been meaning to do the Aux in Mod to my stock head unit to hold me over until I install my other Head Unit.
