The one you've got definitely isn't an overlay. Its the accessory that was available in the Saab catalog and came on some late model cars. I've got one in my 96 900.

It wasn't a year, it used be an accessory out of the Saab catalog I believe.

All the 9-3 Viggens in Australia were fitted with a special carbon fibre dash kit and surrounds (that looks fantastic!) … the place that fitted them here for Saab Australia were getting rid of excess stock a few years back and I managed to buy two kits, and fitted one to my 2002 9-3 Aero. They now have no more left!

Here are some pics of it in my car, which is the same as all Viggens here.

We also had the standard carbon fibre full dash available, which is what was on my 9-3 Aero (and came on most 9-3 Aeros if wood wasn't specced) but I stuck the Viggen kit over it.

Viggens here got either the silver/blue mottled dash, or the carbon dash, and all '03 'verts with the Aero Package and the '02's with the Design Package (the red seats and red trimmed floor mats) had the carbon dashes.

I have an '03 vert with the Aero/Viggen package and I have a walnut dash. Were most of them CF?

Saabkid is right. Its more something you would pick out of the accessory catalog if you bought a new car. Same thing with the steering wheels, door pulls, etc...

Every one I think I have seen was, though there may have been some choice, or maybe someone changed yours?

im thinking about doing this project with the gauges, cept going this route for easier fitting/setup.
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Triple-Gauge-Single-Radio/dp/B001PHVAOW/ref=sr_1_5?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1318974185&sr=1-5 http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Triple-Gauge-Single-Radio/dp/B001PHVAOW/ref=sr_1_5?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1318974185&sr=1-5

ive been talking about this over on another thread lol had no idea you were even doing this.
i personally dont care for the cup holder whatsoever. as long as i can fit my headunit and gauges in the space provided....ill be happy
