If it has the original Viggen wheels - check for damage/bends in the wheels - most of them became "D" shaped as they were very soft wheels.
Obviously any owners supplied reciepts for repair history are great.
Look at the brake rotors front and rear and see how much of the directional grooves are left, as they will wear down to flush when they are about shot. (Viggen Specific Rotors)
Rust - under the hood, all around the strut towers are prone in 9-3's. Same as the rear shock towers. Rear 1/4's also like to rust in strange places on 9-3's

Is it a 5 door or 3 door you are looking at?

check for "the" rust spot on the QP lip on the wheel well. Check if PCV # 6 has been done, if the TB has been replaced (reciepts), MAF, DIC. The usual T7 shit.

Good luck, don't get screwed over like I did.

what color are you looking to buy this weekend? is the car in RI? As mentioned above repair history and regular oil change history will be a big help. Im sure i'm missing a lot but like any car look for rot/rust, previous accident damage ect.

Wheel shake at 65mph coasting or when accelerating.
Look under front end at bushings in the arms.
Original struts/springs/mounts...

The strut mounts were shot on mine and there are still front end noises that I'm having trouble diagnosing.

well thats good, looks like hes been trying to get rid of it for awhile now. . make sure when you check it out that the car hasn't been started or driven awhile before you get there, they could be trying to hide something. . make sure its dead cold.. you want to see and hear it run from a cold start until it reaches up to temperature.. open the hood start it, check the exhaust right after for bad seals.. then listen to the motor until its up to temp. should give you a good idea what your dealing with. then take it out.

make sure there's lots of torque steer when you smash the pedal down in second. No torque steer and I wouldn't buy it.
