Even 9 bucks is steep I pay $20 for a gallon of RotellaT Synth 5W-40.

Reading around it (ENEOS) has shitty UOA results, high Pb content and shears rapidly. Bad for turbos. It would probably be fine for very limited use....maybe a track day, or an autocross, but I wouldn't use it as a daily or for a n extended range.

why the hell would you spend 9 bucks a quart for an oil that is dubious... I mean Mobil 1 is more than good enough for anything... see any racing series

I wouldn't put Mobil 1 in anything I own. Just look at the UOA's on BITOG. I might use the 0W-40 or 5W-40 in a pinch, but never drive it hard, or in a tuned car.

What do you dislike about Shell Rotella 5w-40? Just curious. I pick it up for as well for $20 a gallon at either walmart or autozone.

Works great in the Viggen over the last 5 years and 15+ events. Running perfect @ 115k now.

I'm not impressed with it's UOA's (although I know they have come out with some new formulations recently, I just haven't followed up on it)...not enough zinc in it for my taste, plus it shears down to a thin 30W. My car often gets double or triple driven at events, meaning little or no down time, so I don't want anything under a thick 30W or thin 40W in my car. Oil pressures with M1 were too low for my comfort.

Personally, I think RTS 5W-40 is the perfect balance of price and performance.

My OCI is 4000 miles. Factory long life filter.
