2000 9-3 remote and key

So my cousin just picked up a 2000 9-3. It came with one key and no remotes.

What is my best course of action to get this sorted out? Is my only option going to a dealership and buying a new remote and having another key made? Is it worse then this? Is there a better, smarter. cheaper way to get at least one remote and another key?

Thanks

They are pretty cheap.

But I am not sure about 00's, but some cars you have to have a remote to program, if no remotes come with the car you need a new twice unit($1000).

On my 99', it was fine, I got a remote off ebay for $5.

dont need a new TWICE, mine(00 base) canme with 1 key, we had to get a new one via dealership, and SAABOOST(Eric) hooked me up with 2 fobs for the price of batteries, ebay ones would work fine as well.

You just need a key. Buy one banana and one all in one remote. Find somebody with tech2 so you can program banana. Then go to the stealership and ask to cut you a new key for the all in one and ask to program it (or have your friend with tech2 do it).

I just got the all in one remote and i plan on going to the dealer to cut a new key for me there.

You'll only ever have to replace the entire twice system ($$$$$) if you ever lose every key programmed to the car. You must always have one to be able to add more keys to the system.

Damn. I just ordered the all in one key yesterday. It was cheaper then the key and the remote separate, and I figured the all in one was preferable to the banana.

Oh well. I doubt my cousin will notice/care.
