Largest Stock Oil Filter (Smallest Micron)

***Note*** I have not tested this... I have Napa 1515 on my car currently but plan to test this my next oil change.***Note***

The largest stock oil filter you can use on a stock car (IE stock downpipe) is the.....

K&N HP-3001

It is 5.37 inches and a diameter 3.81 inches. It has a filtering media size of 10 micron! This thing is nuts!

The OEM sized filter from K&N is HP-1002
It is 3.8 inches and a diameter 3.0 inches. It has a filtering media size of 10 micron.

The previous good/oversized filters are Napa Gold 1515 and Mobil 1's M1301-both with 19 micron.

Napa being 5.178 inches long and a diameter of 3.66 inches
Mobil being 5.37 inches long and a diameter of 3.65 inches

Comparsion

Tentatively yes... Napa Gold 1515 fits on a 1999 OG9-3 no problem. And thats suppose to fit the NG900 no problem... So i assume so. Measure your space on the 900 and if it looks like it would fit, buy one from Napa and if it doesn't report back here and return it and get the Napa 1515.

I have several write ups regarding larger oil filters for our cars over at Saabcentral. I ran the 1515 for many months and have many UOA (used oil analysis) with them. the 1515 performed very well and allowed me to add an extra liter of oil with a slight overfill.

Currently I am using a Amsoil Ea026, which holds 2 liters of extra oil and filters down to 15microns @ 98%, this filter will not work with the stock DP. One of the best filters out there with many oil analysis and lab tests to back it up.

The KN filter does filter down to 10 microns, but only at a certain %, it is a good filter, its made my mobil 1. Check out bobistheoilguy.com if you want more oil/oil filter info.

Cheers
