the stages usually refer to the ECU and what software it is running. the hardware is just there to support what the software tries to do. In your case you could make it stage 20... but without a turbo it won't matter...

so to answer the question

stage 1/4 (as previously stated)

NOOB!

Seriously though, I'd be pretty interested to see how much 'powa' a fairly modified 2.1NA(or was it 2.3 for the NG?) is pushing.

I'm really curious as to how your car would stack up vs a turbo counterpart.

what are you talking about? you need to buy an intake, and a full exhaust first

haha i've done this on our sonett.

oversized pistons, oversized valves, cam, carb, exhaust, flywheel etc. turbo's are easier to tune.

I hate the phrase "stage xyz"...but I've never thought of stage as meaning turbo or not but more like faster than stock. The way these gusy are talking a stage 4 NA C5 Vette wouldn't be a stage at all because it didn't have a turbo.

Curious what your mods have done for you, do you have any beofre/after dyno's or antyhing like that?

You should t7 it so you can run t7 suite, then you'd probably be at like a stage 7 by most tuners standards.

It is a tuned NA saab. Simply having swapped out a single part qualifies you as better than all other NA Saabs as no-one has every even contemplated tuning a NA Saab.
In fact, God installed a mental block on the human race to prevent such an occurence.
Therefore I conclude that you are not a man at all, but a demon.
Thus your car is Stage=James Brown

I hope this sufficiently covers any questions you may have.

Now, for seriousness......
As you know Stages are nothing more than a tuner company trying to assign an easily recognizable system to show their customers the different levels of performance vs cost they can get as a "proven" build. It's usually with parts they keep in stock/can get very rapidly.

Usually accompanied by an ecu tune/ "chipped"
I've noticed that stage one usually consists of very basic mods that many people do on their own. Air intake, an sport exhaust, and maybe a set of high performance spark plugs.
Stage two is still fairly basic but covers some things people may not think about like downpipes, suspension, and the like.
Stage three usually gets a bit more complicated and might include headers, uprated turbo (or turbo installation).
Stage four is usually "big time", internals like camshafts, maybe pistons, fuel delivery.
Stage five is usually a custom order thing.

Obviously depending on the company and what market they are going for will change those stages and ultimately, how much they cost.
A lower end tuner focusing on family street cars and cheaper sports cars would usually run something like a few hundred bucks for stage one, a grand or maybe a little more for stage two, and maybe another grand or two for stage three, and stage four is several grand.
Of course a higher end tuner for the "real" sportscars like S2000 and such would run at least double all those figures or more.
And of course anything with Porsche, Ferrari, etc doesn't even need mentioning the enormous price tag with tuning.

At least in my views............(as in, take it with a grain of salt)

I would think your car would be roughly Stage 2.
