225/50/16 will it rub?

I am considering putting this size tire on 16"x7" wide wheels w/ a 40mm offset.

I know 225/45 should be fine.

I can just get a great deal on the 225/50.

Anyone know the offset on the delta's?

Thanks.

i had 225/45/16's and they rubbed- stock suspension & whatever offset the vikings are(37mm iirc)
so i am going to say that 225/50's would rub alot.

I have 15" delta's now. I assume the offset is 37.

I was considering 16" borbet that has an offset of 40.

I will lose 9mm inner clearance but get an extra 3mm outer clearance.

Do you know where they rubbed?

front rubbed holes in the plastics-

Passenger side- rubbed a hole through the plastics onto the crank pulley when turning left and a hole into the wheel arch when turning right.

Driver side was similar- holes in the wheel arches from rubbing.

Rear had more issues-

Driver side was okay from what i can remember.

Passenger side was not.-- there is a rollover fuel shut off valve in that wheel well. so if your car flips it cuts fuel. anyways i wore a hole through it... not too excited about that one.

I'd stick to 215's if you can.

i had 215/45/17 on ronal's with a 40mm offset with no rubbing. the car was lowered on koni springs. the rims were 8x17 i think.
i had 225/40/17 on the same rims and they rubbed bad in the back.

The 40mm offest is the problem. I have 224/45 17 on my summer wheels, but i believe they are a 7.5" wheel with et35 offset.

et40 on a 7" wide wheel is fairly inwardly set. Ish.

I figured the offset would be the issue here.

The other thing I was concerned about that 225/50/16 would be a fairly tall tire for the car. Thus I worried about rubbing in the lower spring perch.

Sounds like less offset would be more ideal. I heard tail of a NG900 with I think a 30 or 35 offset running 235's... I guess my search continues for some 17" or light 16" wheels...

I'm running 225/50/16's on the stock rims.

Seems to be working well...of course I had already rubbed through running 17's so they may rub a little.
