I've never done it, but from what I can remember there are like total of about 8 clips, on the sides, top and bottom. It maybe glued together so be careful, and pry/cut it apart.

Do Not touch the chrome inside, its very easily screwed up.

having much experience with these headlights, it is a matter of pulling off those 8 clips as mentioned above, using just a simple flathead screwdriver.
and he is right about the chrome- it gets screwed up by touching it with your fingernail.

and if your plans include darkening the chrome reflector, say you want to paint it a metallic gunmetal color- dont do it.. it makes light output, well pretty much nothing. (ask me how i know!)

Just did this last weekend. So I'm pretty much saying the same as above. Getting the 8 clips off is a piece of cake. However getting them back on with a new lens and new gasket was tons-of-fun.

You can clean them if you are very careful. Use something like distilled water and a cotton cloth. You could even just take the headlight out of the car and remove the bulbs then swish some distilled water around in the housing then let it air dry.

If you do take it apart be careful because that chrome plastic shit is sharp!

the chrome is fragile, but honestly is not like gold leaf- it just scratches easily.. and yes some pieces are sharp.

ok, I have a chip in one like I said in the corner.........I was thinking of filling it from the backside with come clear epoxy.....if that does not work I will just buy a new lens......if I do buy new lenses I will buy the e-codes, I just dont understand why they are twice the cost of the standard DOE ones you see for sale on the net.........

they are twice the cost for several reasons,

1. harder to find
2. have to be imported as the are not legal in the US
3. they aren't generic ebay/internet lights they are for our cars specifically
4. you are willing to pay it. Supply/Demand

I've got some standard US spec lenses if you just want a replacement at low cost. I would highly recommend buying new lenses. My lenses have 170,000 miles on them and they are severly sand blasted. Replcaing with the e-codes was one of the best things I did for the car.

I rank lighting right up there with tires for the most important purchases for the car.

when i bought my car the headlights were also severely sandblasted. replaced the buckets and put on ecode lenses and it was a drastic improvement. i'm planning on upgrading my bulbs soon too. check out palmer's thread.

x2 on checking out plamers lighting thread. I picked up those Optilux 80/85w bulbs. And damn are they white! I also removed the levels from inside my NG's headlight lenses. I can actually see the reflector from outside the car now. I hadn't been able to in the past.

Next on the list is to find some foglights with little to no pitting.

Wow...ok for sure that is the way to go, the others I had found were $145 each, well this is a good deal indeed, we dont have inspections here in WA. so I should be ok with these lenses !!
