keys

so my viggen only came with one key and needless to say the remote fob is in sad shape (held together with electrical tape), so I'd like to get a new key and make this one a spare.

So....
1)what are the possibilities/logistics/estimated cost of getting a new key cut, and Im guessing it has to ne a dealership?

2)what are the chances/possibilities of getting one of the newer keys with the buttons built into the body?(like the ones on the new 9-3's but without the full plastic cover shit)

There is a write up of how to do it somewhere, but I think the skinny of it is you need to buy the remote part on ebay or elsewhere, get a keyblank from the dealership then have them cut it and program it.

I just don't want to pick up a fab and have the stealership give me shit about it. My connct has been shady lately and almost screwed my dad over on some work so I dunno what the deal is... I really need a spare before my roadteip tho

I had to do this in the fall when my girl friend at the time lost one of my keys. Go on to ebay and buy the electical remote part. Buy two so you will have a spare and your not SOL if you loose a key. I will find the phone # of a cool saab parts guy at a dealership. You email him a copy of your licence, Credit Card Info, and Vin # and the keys will be cut and drop shiped to you in 5 days tops. Insert remote part and take the keys to an Indy with Tech 2 and the keys can be married to the car. The best way to open up the key remote is to use a cork screw to open the back. The keys and are a one piece deal.

Remotes should be $30-$35
Key cut $70 a peice
Married to the Car $70

Two keys at $270

The above seems high

Buy a single key with fob used on ebay
go to dealer and buy a blank stock and have it cut same as your key
have guts from ebay key put into stock that was cut to fit your car and have it programmed to your car.

End result should cost around $100.

I dropped the banana for this 3 years ago.

90 bucks total for a 2nd key and fob, not bad...
