I think buying snow tires (hell, any tires) in anything other than sets of four is a bad idea.

Seriously, tires are probably the single most important component of your car. Without decent tires, even the strongest brakes or the most powerful engine are useless. They're really not something you want to cheap out on.

I agree! While these are pretty good snow tires - I'm a big fan of running 4 matched snow tires for optimum performance and safety.

Moses, where are you located? When I lived in Vermont, this was the time of year that most folks started unloaded their decent sets of snows because they bought a different car or wanted a different make of tire for the year. My experience, always hold out for a set. The good deals are out there. This isn't one of them.

Good deals are definitely out there. I got a set of 4 Bridgestone Blizzaks (used one season) already mounted/balanced on wheels for $100 locally.

My best snag in seven years of Vermont winters? A set of brand new Gislaveds on brand new 9-5 rims for less than $300 last fall. Sweet.
