friend concidering a 1998 S

I have a friend that is concidering buying a 1998 4door S. The car has 112,000 miles on it, 5spd, car has been run mostly in the city, and has been really well taken care of.

I called Sports Car Service and their only warning was to check the suspension for noise and check the front-end b/c that can become expensive if things wear out.

I was wondering what else should my friend watch out for? Specifically what i was wondering was:
-Timing belt or chain?
-How long to the clutches normally last?
-How much to replace the clutch?
-How good are the transmissions?

Thanks,
Ian Cooper

I second that.

And if it has been run mostly in the city, be prepared for a clutch replacement.

I own a 95 900s for two years now, and I keep good care of it. As far as reliablitly I havn't had a mojor problem at all. The only thing I've had to change is the clutch, shocks+struts and I needed to replace a satiation arm.
There is a differance with some 97+ parts but don't think it's much. A city car yeah the clutch may have to be replaced sooner then most.

If you check the link below it will show you the work I've done to it, but your friend may not what to go as far as I did.

the NG-900 S models seem to be quite reliable. count on needing to replace a valve cover gasket and a suspension component or 2 now and then, but otherwise they seem to run till they are crashed into something...
