Buy a Saab 9-3 Aero

Hi guys,

I've owned a 9-3 SS before. Unfortunately I had to part from it because of a bad ECU chip and after that it seemed like everything went wrong no matter how much i tried keeping up with it. It was my first car and had it for about 4 years. Im really debating on Purchasing a '05-'06 9-3 Aero. Im absolutely in love with these cars. So i decided to finally just put up the money and get the best one out there. The V6 2.8.

Anyways my question for you guys is How many miles can these cars run? Ive found one Aero I really like for $11,500 with 59K miles. And I also found one for $6,000 with 146k miles. I just wanted some ideas on how long it will run for. Obviously the $11,500 for one with 59k miles is the better option. However, What im concerned about is trying to figure out what the longevity of these cars really are. My '04 9-3 ss passed at around 159k. I want to believe that it was premature for these cars. However it was my experience.

If you can provide some type of info that would be great!

Thanks Fellow Saab-lings! Hope to hear from you.

I'd have more confidence in a 2005 Aero because it has the four cylinder. I don't trust the orphan V6, but that is just my bias. Since Saabs are no more, I'd lean to lower mileage ones.

The new 2.8 V6 (the "60-degree V6" or "High Feature V6") is a very robust engine that was developed by Holden and used extensively in Australia for years before GM adopted it it for Saab and Cadillac. It doesn't suffer from the flaws of the earlier V6 model (the "54 degree V6") that was developed by Opel and built in England.

Parts are readily available for the new V6, and it can be serviced at most competent indies.
