Going to check out this 2010 9-3 today - opinions?

Supposedly this is the last 9-3 at our dealer. They have dropped the price a few times, right now it's sitting at $19,000.

used 2010 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan

It's a 2010 9-3SS base XWD auto with 4,617 miles. Opinions? Is the price fair? I like the idea of the 2.0T paired with XWD... but are they too slow because of the extra heft the XWD system? Would you recommend a 2.8T with the XWD instead?

Thansk guys!

Didn't the 2.8T V6s only get dual exhaust tips?

Either way,

That should be really nice. Will not be super slow, it is 210hp, and will be really nice on slick roads.

The '10 and '11 Aero trim cars (which only got the 2.0) also got twin tips and the double relief rear bumper cover.

My dad has a 2011 9-3x w/the 2.0 and the 6-spd auto. Power is reasonable, nothing really down low, but if you use the manu-paddles you can keep it in the powerband. He gets 26mpg or so on average, 28-29 on longer highway runs, so a sedan should best that by a mpg or two. No real test of how good the xwd is in the snow, but based on the tech I'm sure it's great. Seems a little pricey to me, for $17k I'd be all over it.

2.0 vs 2.8, honestly I'd rather have the 2.0 for the reliability and ease-of-access/repair. My wife's wagon is a 2.8, and it's got great power but 25mpg on average isn't great for a smallish fwd car. Having just done a trans service and plug/coil r&r, it's a pain to work on and parts are a question. Get a stage 1 tune w/the 2.0 and call it a day.

Bought the exact same car in April. New '11 driven by the former Saab sales manager and had 1k on it.

Got the car for $19k, no warranty.

So I think you have some room.

Either get a nice LONG warranty thrown in or starting dipping towards $17k.

By the way, this was great with some snow on the ground. It's also fun with the JZW tune and flooring it while turning from a dead stop.

Thanks guys. We're also going to drive the NG9-5 but I don't think I'd buy one based upon the potential lack of repair/replacement parts.

Regionally these cars are more expensive in the Pacific Northwest. Couldn't tell you why. I wouldn't expect to get $17k, maybe $18k. Did you buy a 3rd party warrany?

No.

Figured these are pretty reliable at this point and can do work myself. Once it gets a bit up there in mileage I may consider it.

My wife did say the amount of air coming out of the vents seems to be really low lately, hoping it's just the fact that it now has 15k on it so just a cabin filter change.

That's about what we paid for my wife's '10 in Feb of '11 with 1500 miles on it. Now hers isn't an Aero XWD, nor Automatic.

I think it's a good deal, however Saabs are still quite a bit more than that here. Used '10/11s with 40k are still bringing 16995. Our local Saab store still has a '11 Aero in stock, and they are asking 31,900, and for the 9-3X (which I wanted) 35,900. Their "competitor" isn't any better.

I'd skip the 3rd Party Warranty, not worth the money. Our '10 has 67k miles on it, and hasn't had any issues to speak of.

LOL.

We drove ~30 feet into the service department.

There was some sort of slight clunk from the front end. Like a wheel weight hitting the caliper or some such. So we played in the car for a bit and that's it.

Much nicer inside than I expected, not gonna lie. Premium sound, no nav. Black leather interior. I had a good time checking it out, it will supposedly be ready to test drive tomorrow.

Wow. Be careful, apparently some people with XWD have had issues with the differentials while turning at slow speeds.

My parents ended up copping this one. I like it a lot but I don't think I could live with myself not buying a Turbo X instead. There are a few low-mileage ones hanging around out there. My goal will be to DD the white Aero through this winter and find a nice TX this spring.

A shot of their "new" car:

What went down with price and or warranty as part of the transaction?

They wouldn't budge on anything. $19k no warranty.

It was still the best deal in the nation on a 2010 XWD with this low of mileage. I did extensive research and nothing else in the northwest came remotely close.

So what is the story on the reliability of the XWD system? Sounded like the turbo-x had diff. leaks? What about the V6 vs. the trusty 2.0T?

I'm feeling the need for a more family friendly car (4 doors) and the turbo-x, 08 9-5 Combi, 09 9-3 XWD 2.0T are on my radar if I do buy one more last saab.

If only the 9-5 had the 9-3 exterior skin and xwd.....

Not the "old" 9-5. He mentioned a '08 which was FWD only.
