Aero Vs Vector

Hi all,

I am currently looking at purchasing a used Saab. Previously I have owned a 2003 Aero, which I loved. Ideally this would be what I would purchase again. However, I have just come across a 2003 2.0T Vector, which seems a bit of a bargain to be honest.

Have any of you lovely folk driven both vehicles?

Am I going to be disappointed, performance and looks wise, if I go for the Vector rather than the Aero.

I haven't looked at a Vector up close, but the interior trim from the pictures I've seen seems almost identical, excuse my ignorance on that though.

Just to clarify the difference between the two cars I'm contemplating (Aero Vs Vector):

Both are 2003 models

Aero - 98k miles / Vector - 55k miles (seems a little too good to be true, but have been assured genuine)

Aero 2900 / Vector 1895

Obviously running costs/insurance are cheaper on the vector, and this is where the head is ruling the heart. However, the Aero I have seen is identical to the one I used to have, so its pulling on my heart strings, because I adored that car.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help

Charlie

Here's a pic of both cars.

Looking at the pics, I would say the Vector paintwork looks like it needs a good polish to be honest, but not the best lighting and environment to take the shot & the car looks like it would benefit from a good valet or detailing fix

The Aero on the other hand looks in fantastic condition, maybe just because its gleaming & shiny

I am confused.

Here in the states, there was no "Aero" in '03. It was called the Vector and the name was changed in '04 when the Vector became the Aero.

There were no mechanical changes, same car.

Now the car on the left has Saab optional 18" wheels which is a bonus.

Hi,

Sorry to confuse you my friend, there must be differing model variations/names from here in the uk. Maybe one of the other forum members can clarify that for us both.

I did notice that the wheels on the left car (Vector) are different to the standard issue, which I believe are five spoke alloys. They actually look great on the car, the Vector always looks like it has had a rear boot lid spoiler fitted, and I'm unsure if that is standard on the Vector also, I don't think it is, maybe I'm wrong.

Hopefully someone on here can explain all the fundamental differences between the two models, ie performance, trim etc

Thanks for your reply mate

It's an issue of US car knowledge vs overseas. There are very few people on here with knowledge of such cars as you are looking at. Like I said, here Vector and Aero were never sold at the same time and was only a name change.

Saab Central is a better bet as many over there are from the UK.

Ah right, I see.

I only joined this site yesterday, wasn't aware it was primarily based in the states.

Thanks for the tip off on Saab Central pal. I'll check it out now
