I'm saying not so much.... maybe not horrible, but nothing super great.

You could probably pick up similar Viggen (probably an '01) in better shape for that kind of money.

For the convertible, the 2004 platform was upgraded over 2003 (total redesign of the car). I would go for the 2004 model as it has much less cowl shake and a much better handling.

That's a fair price if the car is in very good condition. With a 6 point subframe brace from genuinesaab.com the cowl shake is almost acceptable.

Check for service records, I'd be concerned with sludge, have seen some pretty bad if neglected.

The 04- is a totally different beast and you likely won't find one in that price range. But to upgrade suspension and chassis stiffening on this to get even 70% of the way to the 04 you'll spend some good change

I personally like the 04+ better.

I have seen some screaming deals on them, just have to be patient.

I really dislike these car dealers. These are the guys that go to auctions and pickup cars as cheap as possible. Sometimes they get decent cars and other times they get junk. They would never tell you one way or the other, they rent wearhouse space, no very little about cars, and often try to hide all the problems they can. The best thing to do is find someone you trust and has the knowledge to do a PPI, we cannot tell you if this is a good deal from pictures online. I bought two cars off Ebay and will never do it again unless I see the cars in person. It is amazing how dishonest people are, and especially in an economy like this, evem the Carfax is useless useless useless. I bought a 1990 Porsche 944S2 and the Carfax came out clean, they car had been in a major accident and was repaired by Macco, need I say more !
