Assious Holius may not have been the culprit. The pigment layer is known to peel off these badges. I've had several come off over the years, on both the classics as well as the modern Saabs -- and rear as well as front badges. Most recent has been the 9-7X which is less than a year old...

Yes. Mine came off as one piece, and looks like yours.

It would be literally impossible to remove just the paint layer on the emblem if you were trying to be a dick.

Yep. Nice clean delamination. If an a$$hole tried, the chrome would probably have some nasty gouges from a screwdriver.

Very common, and very annoying, problem with these badges.

think the laminated cover from saabparts.com is a worthy buy? btw the de-badge doesnt look that bad.

DOUSNT LOOK THAT bad at all... silver on silver... i was told that saab in 2007 made different ones that was composed of just paint but a rubber film over them!

I have had several of my Saab badges delaminate in one clean piece... as others said, it's very common.
