Alarm problems...

A friend of a friend got a linear. She didn't get an alarm key to it, just one key from an indy dealership. Today she goes out to drive it and the alarm goes off and the car will not start due to that. Is there some way she set the alarm without the remote and a way to unset the alarm without the remote.

I am fairly sure that when ever the door is locked with the key, that the alarm will still be activated. Or at least thats what makes sense.

I am not sure there is just a fuse, but its worth a look. I say that wont work because of the alarm being integrated with the ICE system in the car, that also controls other electronic things.

So, you can try:
1) looking for a fuse.
2) Going to a dealer for the services of a Tech II.
or 3), Just get a key like every one else.

Right now the car will not move since it is alarm mode. When she opens the door it goes off and the car will not start. What would another key do when she already has one?

iirc if you cant get an alarm key you have to get new keys, new locks, and a new alarm module. not cheap.....

Did you look for a fuse? I am not sure if the SS has one, but if it does, remove it, and unplug the battery, and let the system reset. That is all I can think of, and I am not even sure if that will work.

WAIT!!

I know on my moms 9-5, you are able to disable features of the alarm, say glass break sensors. There also must be a setting for completely turning off the alarm. I'd guess the same would be on her SS. Do you have the owners manual? Read up, that should have all the info.

What do you mean no alarm key? Dont all of the keys for the SS have lock and unlock on them? I've held quite a few and I've never seen a key that didn't have a lock and unlock button on it O.O

They SS keys are the huge black bricks, if you don't have an unlock button on it you have to pull the normal key out of it which is a pain in the arse....

How long ago did she get the car? If I were her I would go back to the dealership and raise HELL! I am sure with the proper amount of persuasion it is possible the problem could be taken car of with little out of pocket cost!

Was this a certified pre-owned SAAB from an official SAAB dealership?

It wasn't an official saab dealership but a dealership that sells a lot of saabs, vw's, and mazdas. Don't know about if it was pre-owned, but it is all taken care of now and they weren't charged anything seeing as they had it less than a week

It's nice to hear they took care of the issue, there is almost nothing worse than realizing you got screwed by a car dealership!
