Prevalence of Munched Intake Valves 07+

So, in looking for a Saab to replace my ancient and tired OG9-3, I've seen a lot of 07+ (face lifts) for much cheaper than their 04-06 counterparts. The only reason I can attribute to this, all things being equal with respect to the mileage and equipment level, is the tendency to eat intake valves for breakfast on the 07 and up B207. How common is this problem, really? The Saab boards make it out to be as common as potholes and taxes, but I do see quite a few 07+ with higher mileage. Are the later cars the bargain they appear to be at face value, or am I commandeering a sinking ship?
Thanks!
-Cm

My '09 has 245k and seems to be fine. I think it's nowhere near as prevalent as it's made out to be.

If you find a car priced Right that drives right(pay most attention to cold starts) then buy it.

Any reason for the 07+-10's to be so much cheaper, mileage for mileage, than the uglier(IMHO) older version of the same car? Does the cold start issue only appear when cold or does it happen during any cold start, say, @70F/~20C?
