900 Seat Cover Question

I'm looking to replace my front driver side 900 bottom seat cover. I have two questions.

1) Can I use a passenger side bottom seat cover on the drivers side?
2) Are the 900 and 9000 seat covers the same, so if I found a 9000 bottom seat cover I could use it?

Actually it depends. Does your 900 have electric front seats or not? Non-electric 900 seat bottoms can usually be swapped passenger to drivers side and vice versa (I did this in my last '90 Spg). But electric seat bottoms are not symettrical. However, I have 9000 electric seat bottoms in my '91 900 which also had electric seats. They fit great. I have heard tho that 9000 tops do not fit in a 900.

I'm really sorry.

I read 900 and thought NG900 (owned 2 c900 and 10+NG's, ingrained bias, my bad), despite the forum you are in...

Yes, they will swap left to right pre-90, I did this too. Sam I didn't know powers wouldn't swap, thanks!

You can swap in the whole 9000 seats to a c900, my boss did this on his 1989, he had to run power of course. He took it right off the ignition switch.

No prob Nick. Swapping 9000 entire seats can be tricky - the 900 had different tracks depending on the year, so you might want to check that before you swap over. Also have to keep in mind that the 9000 was a four door, so no option to tilt the seats forward if you swap the seats to a 900 hatchback or convertible. I'm working on a set of 9000 aero seats right now to swap onto 900 frames to tilt forward for use in a convertible. Should be very cool.

Use your seat frame regardless of year C900.

If you wanna use 9000 seats or post 90 900 seats ( they are one and the same) cushions it's an easy swap no matter the year 900 you have.

Just take the foam and leather from whatever donor car you use and apply to your seat frame

The frame of your seat has no clue what year the cushion and leather is.

I have successfully swapped 9000 front and rear seats skins into C900 vert and hatch...

It all can be done with a lil ingenuity.

when you go to remove the cushion/foam from the donor the only challenge would be cutting the lines for the heated seat. They are a useless accessory here but where you live you may wanna keep the function so just putting that out there..

the cushions are not held to the frame by anything once you remove the hog ties it comes away with the leather after cutting the heated seat lines.

On re-installation don't go trying to refit the hog ties.. just use good quality zip ties.. a lot faster and easier...

good luck

The 9000 tops fit fine into a 900, with the only problem being the hole in their outside panel for the Lumbar Support adjuster. I've patched the hole as neatly as possible, cut a new hole for the seat release, and used a 9000 passengers top on the drivers side of my '91 SPG (as shown) and at least one other car. Vern
