'77 99 now in Vermont!

8ValveGrowl & I picked up a '77 99GL 2 dr sedan this w/e, towed it home on a dolly, got it to northern VT safe & sound. She's a solid 97k runner listed on CL in W. Mass recently... didn't have the camera that day, but pics to come soon!

Nice. Haven't seen a 77 up here since the 80's, and even then most didn't have floors left

We bought a brand new 99 in 1974, so this has been like old home week for me... brings back some memories! Only car that we ever bought new... for $4200! A Verona Green 2 dr w/ 4 spd.

This White car is pretty darn solid - and it came from Camden Maine area up until 1 yr ago when it went to W. Mass, 3 mi from the VT border. Front end and floors seem good, some work as been done around the r wheel wells, that I may re-do at some point. But she runs well and we have service records up to 94K miles. Already ordered new shocks and ball joints, and 8Valve has bought an EMS steering wheel from someone here. Still needs tires and maybe tie rods. Maybe Bill can post some pics?

Good Luck Nick with the Big Event!!

Pic of '77 99 in VT

Our "new" white 99... the last one we bought 38 years ago.
Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic, will get more when we're up next week.
Doesn't show the flaws well, the rear 1/4s were redone, dings, sunburned seat tops. But pretty solid overall, and she runs well!

Already ordered 4 new shocks & ball joints, tie rods and tires will be next.

Taking a picture of a white car in a VT snowstorm evidently doesn't show up very well.*

Didn't attach for some reason.... I think it's too big. Don't know how to shrink it.

Merged your threads.

I doubt it's the size that caused it not to load. A full res iPhone photo is big, but not that big.

Actually, both front markers are damaged, but serviceable.

The priority list is currently:

Figure out why the rad fan won't cycle. Relay clicks over with 13.8V and the fuse is OK. Next, I need to check the thermostat switch for the fan and fan motor. Car starts to run warm without the fan kicking in.

Address the bouncy castle, loosey-goosey suspension stuff.

New tires.

Then use it as a summer runabout!

Cosmetics will be sorted after it's driveable and registered.

It runs like a champ. Smooth and quiet. Has anyone upgraded to the Pertronix Ignition modules? That might be a future mod, too.

I hope to source some of the rare parts like turn signals through my Swedish friends in the Home of The Forward Look group (hence my "Firedome" moniker, <--- that's a 58 DeSoto in my avatar, we no longer have it, but have a 58 Chrysler with the same body)... there's a TON of Forward Look Mopars in Sweden, and many of those guys drive SAABS as DD's. Swede's love big US cars, they have a huge festival built around them called Vasteras Big Power Meet... Google it and you will be amazed. Anyhow apparently some of these parts still exist over there, I'll report on any sources that I find for the hard to get stuff. Once we get mechanicals sorted I intend to do cosmetics as well.

Cool catch! Look forward to watching the progress.

I see tires but not rims on your list (apologies if rims were mentioned earlier in the thread - I'm late to join). What are your plans?

I don't mind the original steelies but like to get the hubcaps that fit them. We also have a set of 5 900T "Manhole cover" wheels from my other son's '84 we can use. I'd love to find some Italian Cromadoras but they only made a 4 hole 89 mm wheel in 15" for the Fiat 131 racers, so essentially extinct. I like the Italian '60s mag look, wonder if anyone makes a similar looking aftermarket wheel.

Hey Fed Ex just pulled up with the 4 new Boges and ball joints! First of many parts, no doubt... the fun begins!

Glad to see someone finally picked this up and it went to a good home, it was kicking around out there and tempting me for a while. Looking forward to following the progress and hopefully seeing it on the road sometime!
