Throttle Cable Removal

I have a 1977 EMS 99 with fuel injected engine. I have released the throttle cable from the engine and the peddle. How does it come through the firewall. There is a hex nut there but I keep turning with no success - help please.
Also anywhere I can get a new cable??

2 screws philipps hold it down to the fire wall from the outside.
