LOL.

Seriously though, it usually comes down to getting lucky and finding someone selling off the parts you need at the right time - keep an eye on eBay and in salvage yards, if you see someone selling a non-running car and you have space start picking up parts cars.

Some UK and Scandinavian forums are good for finding parts if you can find someone willing to ship.

There are more Euro members on SaabCentral so things pop up there sometimes.

What year your car is matters a lot too, '75 and up have more hard part interchanges with C900's, the '69-'73 and parts of '74 cars do NOT interchange, like brake calipers and lines, rotors, the early D-jet fuel injection stuff, fuel tanks, fuel pump, don't interchange.

I have a '73 - it's a pain in the ass to find things, I ended up swapping in a 16v 5-speed powerplant, and front and rear suspension from an '89 900, but that took a LOT of customizing.

Sometimes sites like RockAuto.com have decent selection of parts, and either Paul or DeLorean, I forget which, did a good writeup on how to use some off-the-shelf industrial seals to re-seal the water pumps.

Timing chain guides and tensioners are pretty much unobtainable new now, have to keep stock of good used ones.

Got an album of this monster and the work done? Sounds gnarly.

Thank god someone posted that link cause I could not remember the name of the site, and now will be purchasing one to replace the mangled plastic one from the race car.

I've seen this car in person. SO much work has gone into it -- really amazing project.

That car has been for sale quite a while... at least 6-9 months?

It's only slightly easier to get parts for the '75+ cars for three reasons -

1) There are move of them left here in the U.S

2) There were more of them made period

3) More parts (but certainly not all) swap with the C900's.

Otherwise they still aren't particularly easy to track down bits for, but that's part of the fun anyway. Very few people still DD model 99's, and the people I know of who do have huge stashes of parts.

that car looks real solid, and that's gotta be priority #1 in buying a nearly 40 year old car. If the $ is reasonable and you don't mind getting into a huge project, I'd say grab it.
