Looks like I won't be getting a 99

So it looks like I will have another 99 shortly. My intention with this one is to drop the turbo motor in from my quite rusty 78 99-T shell and junk that. Should be interesting being that it's the same color & year, with a hatch - however a 5 door rather than a 3 door.

Also, power steering and A/C, neither of which my rusty 99-T has. For the sake of originality I'd totally destroy it, however it should be a damn nice driver when I'm done. Perhaps modern fuel injection, an electronic water pump, and a normal turbo will work it's way in the mix adding to the reliability. I also have a freshly rebuilt 99 P/S rack that I should be able to drop right in.

I almost bought that car on Saabnet a few months ago. Gary Stottler and I were going to put his spare turbo motor and manual transmission in it.

Similar thinking, eh? The 4 speed from the 99-T is going in too.

Nice find. One of these days I'll find the pics of my '79 99. I really miss that car.

Indeed, my boss even showed this to me today on ebay, and I can't tell how much restraint it took to not sign in and bid lol.

Aw come on. Those wheels and huge mud flaps are way cool. I'd love to have space for that car.

So you can watch time pass as you run the 1/4 mile.*

That is a very nice 99. I watched the auction both times but only bid the first time around. It's hard to believe that it went so cheap.

Nothing says, "I might be a communist" like a 5 door 99.

Looks great!

Wow, nice find! 5-door 99s are great and rather rare, especially a GLE.
