New Addition To The Fleet

SPGASM and I just got back from the 800 mile round trip to Springfield,MO to pick up the new project car, a 78' 99 Turbo. Took some pics of the trip.

The outset at 9:30 last night (yes I did the whole trip with a N/A 900 and tow dolly)

So drove untill 2am. Both of us decied to get a room...a $45 for two people room. This place fit it's name of "Budget Inn".

Got to Taliaferro's. Nick came and helped us break the brakes free, put a couple scabby tires on the back, and load the ol' girl up and we were ready for the fun part.

Didn't get too many pictures after loading the car. Turned out the N/A didn't tow it too bad except that what little horsepower and brakes the Ng has got spread very thin over the weight of bopth cars and the dolly. Also found out roads that look somewhat straight on a map can mean that it's actually curvey as hell.

The Ng pulled through in the end and got us back to Iowa City. Only a couple times did we run into hills that almost ended up being 4k RPM wide open stalls in 3rd gear. The best part is that I still managed to get 21 mpg with the 99 in tow.

The color is something I'll have to think about. On one hand I like the white and whoever did the paint job took the time to jam the doors and everything. On the other the original anthracite gray would look good also, decisions decisions.

Rust wise I haven't put the car on a hoist yet but I do know that the major area's seem to be rust free. Only a little surface rust around the windows and few spots on the hood.

The room may have had a shaker matress but the place looked like it must have used cockroach power instead of electricity.

Glad you made it back safely.
It was a sweet car my dad had just never had time to finish it up. Went to a good home.

But yeah very limited rust. Just an odd early repaint. Not too bad looking wet.
