New 99 mod in the works... (with teaser pics)

yup, the EMS is about to get quite a bit more safe at night, should beat out the non halogen sealed beam lights its got now by quite a bit!

no pics on the car yet, since i messed up and modded the housings from a later car that i had, and they lack the proper bracketry to mount the headlight bezels that my car has! oh well, it should be easier the 2nd time around...

well, theyre in

also attempted to polish the bezels, didnt quite turn out like i hoped, but theyre a bit shinier. oddly the grille center and light bezels are aluminum, but the horizontal strips on the grille seem to be stainless, so they polished up better.

barely any clearance behind the low beams, the connectors basically sit directly on the frame rails.

they seem to work pretty good, but i need to figure out how to make it so i can adjust them properly, right now theyre kinda low, but theyre still quite a bit better than the factory setup.

Those turned out pretty nice...

I did something similar with my 1975 LE a while back. Picked up a cheap pair of H4 housings on eBay for the high/low beam, and modified a set of H3 driving lights in place of the highbeam. They made a huge difference over the sealed beams. I like the projectors from the E34 better though.

I don't have a better picture, but you can kind of see them.

could you put the low beams in upside down to get rid of that clearance issue?

there really isnt a clearance issue, just damn near a clearance issue, and if you turned them upside down they wouldnt work right, they'd basically be turned into high beams.

I always thought 99's had tons of light with just halogen sealed beams that were aimed properly. way better than normal c900 87+ lights.

a small flashlight is better than 87+ c900 headlights.

You seem like the kinda guy that would have a small flashlight.
