Did a little work on the 99 today...

installed me some Hella 500's

and half-assedly made a c900 skidplate fit

not completely happy with the way the skid plate turned out, but hey, should keep me from breaking things too badly for now.

Also, Paul, the lights look great! Nothing beats six up front (like the Pontiac 6000s).

Why are you unhappy with the skid plate? It looks okay to me, albeit slightly crooked.

yeah its crooked, thats mostly it, what i hadnt noticed before i started is that the bump that the engine sits in on the 99 isnt centered in the car! it sits off to the drivers side by an inch or 2, kinda weird. that made it so the hole that i drilled in the center of the skid plate wasnt in the center of the car...it went downhill from there as far as the install was concerned.

you can see what im talking about here

see how it doesnt line up with the vents below the grill? never noticed this about 99s before but it does make sense since the engine does sit off to the one side by a little bit.

If it were a show car, then I'd worry about it. As is, it really doesn't look that bad-- plus it'll help more than it'll hurt the way it is.

Do you have a picture of the off-centeredness prior to the skid plate install?

Car looks good Paul very strange without the bumper though i have never see a 99 in that form.

I know there is this company in Sweden that makes some fiberglass airdams for your car and its not that expensive. They same company that saabrally.com owner ( i forget his name right now) bought his arches from. You should throw some wax on that thing it would really bring out the color. Nice hellas

wax doesnt work on rust.

sas sells the replica airdams, pretty cheap too, i do need to pick one of those up once some funds become available. needs some wilwoods and a 16vt first though

they look way sweet with no bumper and an air dam, i remeber seeing jack ashcraft sketches of a 99 set up like that.

Great looking car, btw. I love the badges on that car.
