Given that I have an LS-2 in my other car passion (2006 GTO), getting factory built 390 HP sounds sweet. And if you decide to make it a "true" Saab and turbocharge it, Mmmmmm, Yummy!
Still have the 9-5 Aero Wagon, and love it, but just like the Goat's 400HP "speaking to me", stuffing a modern Gen IV small block V8 in a Saab badged vehicle is pretty enticing.
I like them. I got picked up by one in sweden last week! Its easy to get attatched to it. (I wouldnt ever pick one over a saab sedan but if I needed a SUV)
I would never even consider buying one brand new, maybe used in a few years though.
I've seen some Trailblazer SS launches and they are very impressive. There was a TB SS at the track when I ran, it looked stock but had 2 huge NAWS bottles in the back. It was running mid/low 12s and was launching like no SUV I'd ever seen before.
The 9-7x will be the fastest 0-60 and 1/4 mile stock Saab ever.... I wonder how strong it will be from a roll?
Sign me up. I need one to pull the racecar. Throw in a new enclosed trailer too. Oh wait you mean I have to pay for it.. Nevermind.. I will keep the 78 F250 Maybe someday, come on lease return.
I'm just curious, why the support for the 9-7x while the 9-2x is treated like a pedophilic nazi?
Oh, and I wouldn't get one. If I have call to get an SUV or a truck I want one that can go offroad and play in mud. But I see the usefulness of the car-utes, just need a stouter vehicle all-'round if I'm going to pony up the dough to get one.
Fuji Heavy Industries and GM broke off their relationship after the sale of one of Fuji's units. They basically canceled any further development of the 9-2X before it really caught fire. The 9-7X is a GM product and will continue to be developed in the near future as long as sales support it I imagine.
personally I have zero interest in an SUV, and don't forsee a situation where I would "need" one. But if I did need to own one, I would at least look at a Saab 9-7X or whatever they have at the time, to support the brand. but that's just my opinion.
They did a better job of Saabifying the 9-7x than they did with the 9-2x.
The exterior of the 9-2x looks great, but otherwise the car is a Subaru, through and through. The interior does not look and feel at all like a Saab.
The exterior of the 9-7x does not distinguish it from it's GM SUV brethren as much as it should, but the rest of the car feels more Saab-like, especially the interior.
Having driven a 9-7x and various rental TrailBlazers, the 9-7x is a much better vehicle to drive. Handles crisp, feels good, all the suspension slop in the TrailBlazer is non-existant in the 9-7x.
The 9-7x is the best version of the TrailBlazer plarform there is. IMO you cannot say the same thing about the 9-2x and its corporate twin.
Yes, yes you can. The 92X aero and linear were definatly improved over their subie brothers with upgraded suspension, interiors, climate control, and probably a thing or two in addition to that.
are these really coming on to the market?
the aero?
my mom just asked about the 9-7 i said wait for the aero..
she wants to replace the burban..
my friend has a 07 trailblazer ss i love driving it..
quick and smooth
Keeping in mind that this is still an SUV, the 9-7X's steering is not in the least bit vague, the ride is pleasingly firm, body roll in turns is well controlled, and interior accommodations are suitably Euro-lux.
On the mechanical side, Per Jansson-finally, a Swede!-pretty much emptied the suspension engineers' bag of tricks to give the 9-7X more accurate handling and a taut ride and to generally trim off the flab from the GMT360's American-style mushiness.
On the road, the Saab feels considerably more composed, with stiffer shocks and springs that go a long way to calm excess body motions, a steeper steering ratio that gets rid of some on-center slop, and stiffer calipers combined with a more aggressive pedal ratio that help to alleviate a previously soft brake. Combined with stickier 255/55R-18 Dunlop SP Sport 5000 tires, these changes amount to noticeable performance improvements: a 172-foot stop from 70 mph and 0.82 g on the skidpad
And your SS is a Chevy Malibu and and an Opel Vectra and a Cadllac BTS with a Saab badge.
