Hail totaled my 9-5

So my beloved White Hirsch 9-5 was peppered with softball sized hail during an epic storm last month. It looked WAY better than the Honda pilot I had sitting next to it in the drive way ( man they use thin metal)

I had slid off the road during the winter and was already figuring out how to repair the front bumper/spoiler and now figure I won't be doing that.

I am trying to decide if its a a good idea to let the insurance company total the car ( it really does not look so bad unless you get really close) Except for all the Hirsch goodies its just an aero in mint condition with 170K well maintained miles on it.

So I am probably moving on, get myself a company car and decide what my next car will be. I have no inclination to part the car out, so I will probably sell it as a whole and let someone else use it to build a Hirsch car. Keep an eye out in the for sale section....

This is how it looked

Wow what a shame! Hail always scares the hell outta me. Seems every couple years we have some storms move through and destroy cars. One of the primary reason my next place has gotta have a garage!

That's a shame, think you could convince them to pay extra for the hirsch equip?

We had a wild storm in May. Thankfully we didn't get the worst of it. Just small hail for a few minutes. Just north of here, they got their asses kicked.

My house in PA got it worse than the car, looks like someone took a machine gun to the vinyl siding, shutters and windows, $36,000 in damage...

Best thing to do is to probably let them total it out, buy it back for the $500 or whatever it costs to do so, and then sell it as a whole to one of us guys here on the forum. The alternative for repair is likely PDR…my brother's 2006 350z was hit by hail when it was 2 years old and the insurance company paid something like $5-10,000 in damages, with a PDR master spending multiple days to remove all the dents.

Yes it was estimated as PDR, many hours ( too many) and it hit total amount ( they said value on the car was 4700...
