Marrying/Divorcing Head Units

I'm thinking about picking up a denso navigation unit from the '05 for my '00 aero. The problem is that the unit hasn't been divorced with the '05, and the car had been scraped. The seller says a vin number retrieval may be possible, but not for sure. Is there anyway around this? Any possibility of marrying it to my car with a tech2?

Need the Vin, I know of no way around it. I would not buy the unit without the correct Vin.

Aftermarket navigation units are much better. Unless you are getting that head unit for an incredible price, I would look to the aftermarket.

there are many good aftermarket NAV units that will look dead OEM when installed with the right fit kit.

I am a massive OCD freak on things looking factory and if i had to replace the radio in my saab i would go aftermarket NAV. no reason not to.
Unless like mentioned you are getting this factory unit for a steal (sub $50)

I don't think an 05 unit will work on an 01. Ask Wulf at Saab World.

It should work with my '00. Instead of taking the speed signal from the ESP unit ('01 on), I'll have to take the signal from the ABS unit
