Keep and sell? Donate? Scrap?

I need on opinions on what to do with a 99 9-5 SE

Car's turbo shit the bed, and I'm debating what to do: fix it and sell it, Donate it for a (small) tax writeoff, or scrap it. Parting it out isn't an option because I have ZERO time fo dat.

Here's the skinny:

This was my commuting sled for years. Car has 207K miles on the body, about 70K on a B234 engine with at least 150K on it before it was installed.

Body is tired, with typical rust patches on the rear doglegs. Black paint is scratched and scuffed on nearly every panel. Definitely needs subframe bushings, front and rear, and possibly one front wheel bearing. In the next six months, it will need brakes and tires.

A turbo would be about $250 or so, installation would take about a day (with time for beers) and then I'd be back to where I was a couple of months ago...

My questions:

What would the scrap value be?
Would it be worth anything as a sale car?

I usually have answers but I'm completely stumped on this.

Depends on what you want to do to replace it? $250 and it gets you thru another Winter is a no brainer.

I'm troubleshooting a 9-5 wagon with low oil pressure, looks like the oil cooler lines are leaking like a sieve, hopefully this is the source of the low oil pressure!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that's not likely your issue.

As far as scrap fix or sell...

If you're content driving it for the time being, fix it.

If you have money to find a replacement, dump the tired 9-5

Scrap value won't be a lot, but will most likely be less of a fuss than donating for a tax write off.

Yeah, sorry Mike, this is a tough question for us to give guidance on. If it were just a winter beater, I would treat it as such - fix only the things it needs to drive in a "fairly" safe manner. Subframe bushes? Screw it. Tires? Get used. Brakes are easy. Just one man's opinion - only you will know.

I'm sure if you replaced the turbo and tossed it on CL, it'd sell.
I think scrap is <$500, based on the CL ads.

you've gotten a good run from it, though. I don't think it owes you anything.
