2004 9-5 Aero Wagon (Picture Heavy)

I made a long anticipated purchase last October. I've always wanted a 9-5 wagon since I've been into Saab's (almost 10 years).

I wanted to have some things to report before I made a thread for it.

It's a 2004 Aero wagon in Espresso Black with a black interior.

I got it with 109k, it currently has around 125k

The first owner got it new in Arizona where it stayed until the guy I got it from took it out to Denver, Colorado for just over a year. Needless to say, there is no rust on the car except for the muffler.

Buying it was a pleasure. Seller was a Saab enthusiast and was excited to see it go to a good home. I found it on craigslist and my brother who tours with a musician for living just so happened to be in Denver the same day I found it. He met up with the seller and checked it out for me. I had it shipped not long after.

Maintenance includes:

- Headgasket done by a reputable shop in Denver last year
- Bilstein B8's on front and rear (with stock Aero springs)
- Xenon bulbs replaced last year

Since my ownership I've done the water pump, CPS, DIC, new windshield, swapped in a different aero passenger seat (original had a defect) and added OEM euro clear corner lights

I love the car - it's just as great as I expected.

One catch... It's an automatic.

Esaabparts production data shows this as 1 of 35 produced.

I'm a BBS lover, so my goal from day one was to get some RKI's or II's on it. I found some over the holidays that needed some love.

I had them finished in hypersilver by a local guy here in Alabama. They came out better than expected. Very pleased.

I fit new Sumitomo HTR P02's in 235/45/17 at the same time so another tire shop wouldn't damage my freshly refinished wheels. This has happened to me 2 times in the past 2 years. If I could do it again, I'd get some tires that weren't as hard as these. But you can't beat the price (less than $450 shipped and installed)

I've also been adding OEM upgrades here and there. Shout out to Matt Nicklay at eSaabparts for helping me facilitate orders. Such a nice guy!

I got the gray carpet wagon floor mat for the cargo area:

Cross bars for the factory roof rails:

I have the OEM roof spoiler painted and ready to install (likely this weekend).

Can we change the name of this place to aerowagon.net yet? So many great wagons on here lately.

Espresso black is a great color, and I love it with the gray interior, seems like I usually see it tan with that color. Nice score.

Did you get the spoiler and the carpet cargo mat from esaab/Matt? I'm looking for the rubber one piece deal to shield my cars from my dog, wondering if that's something Matt can get.

I love it. Didn't know much about it before purchasing it. I thought it was black when I first saw it. Such a dynamic color.

I got everything from Matt except the spoiler. I got it used on ebay.

Awesome, thanks for that link.

Yeah, the spoilers are a pain to come up with. I've thought about getting the cheap copy that's out there, but have heard stories about it not fitting right. I have one that I had painted for my black wagon and never put on, coincidentally it was laser red when I bought it.

Gorgeous! I bought an '08 Aero wagon recently as well, and reluctantly an auto. Really missing my manual, but trying to cope.

There are 20+ listed on eSaabparts.

Maybe this is new stock or something?

Also, for those interested, Matt has uploaded a PDF of the installation instructions with the spoiler on Esaab's website, Template included.

Anyone have a recommendation for a power steering pump?

OEM is $357

EEuro sells a Bosch Reman unit for $225

Rock Auto has a couple (AC Delco, A-1 Cardone, ATSCO, AAE, BBB) Ranging from $120-192.

I'd prefer OEM, but $350 is kind of high for a pump.

I put in a reman from Rock Auto back in January of last year in my DD '03 Aero sedan, AC Delco 36P0781, no problems, but you do have to have the special puller to reuse your original pulley. $94 after the $40 core exchange. I figure it was cheaper to go this route and buy the puller, and then I got to keep the puller.

I didn't realize that some don't come with a pulley. That's probably one of the reasons for the dramatic price differences.

Did you get a simple puller or one that was a kit?

I've done a bit of research on this and can't find a clear answer.

I recently picked up a used Krona intake tube for the turbo. It has the threaded bit for the PCV instead of the later press in garbarge that my 04 has.

Question is: How can I swap the entire PCV system to the threaded type? I have a broke insert on the throttle body that frequently comes loose. I hate this system.

What I have:

What I want:

What I want installed on the Krona:
