New Hampshire Fall SAAB cruise

People are talking over on SAABcentral and I figured I would start getting people on board here. There are a few things being talked about, all adding up to one big day.

When: Tentatively October 21st, possibly happening sooner though.

Where: Lakes Region/Mountains of NH. Cruise will begin off Exit 23 of I-93 in NH.

There is a cruise being planned around the lakes and mountains of NH. Then also a run up Mt. Washington for potentially the same day.

I personally am only really concerned with the cruise part, as I don't have the balls to take my 85 up the mt. washington auto road. The punishment on the trans is too scary for me.

But, I'd like to keep everyone in the loop and included, and that way we can work out details altogether.

My hope is to have the cruise group meet up with the Mt. Washington group. The route will be similar to the one a few of you joined me on earlier this year, only it will probably wind up finishing at Mt. Washington. That way people can do both if they want, and if not, they can at least be part of a larger gathering.

So, lets get on board people and make this happen!

i am in for this. hands down good time to be had.

seeing as in june my GF and I took her MINI to the top of Mt Washington during a muddy rain storm, its time for the Aero to go up. gotta be better weather. heres what we endured in a trail of about 150 MINI Coopers

Drive Up Mt Washington

Drive Down Mt Washington

definitely worth the trip up.

For those interested it sounds like the Mt. Washington part of the day, assuming they still intend to do it on the 21st (which is the last day the auto road is open for the year), will happen after noon sometime, leaving enough time in the earlier part of the day for my cruise.

So that was my long way of saying, you should be able to do both in the same day if you want.

We are locking in the date for October 21st.

Found this nice little blurb about a section of the route I've got planned... never driven it before myself. Hoping to go and check it out tomorrow!

We would be heading the opposite direction than they went.
Sawyer Highway: A New Hampshire Sweet Spot

Total distance for the cruise from Exit 23 off I-93 to the base of the Mt. Washington auto road is looking like 109 miles.

If my club's Fall Mountain Cruise (VT) doesn't end up the same day I might venture down. Looks like a good run!

The only problem I would have is if the ending point is Mt. washington its like a 3 hour drive home for me back to western Mass....Plus the Patriots game is at 4:25....I think a Saturday would be better day , but most of you guys are in NH I think,no worries I'll go with the flow or not, could always bail out early.

Glen, I hear ya. I would say the Mt. Washington aspect is iffy. There is a separate group that was planning that end of things, and I believe they are a bit worried about planning a run up the hill so late in the season. We all know how bad the weather can get on the auto road, and it being the last day the road is open, I don't think they'd think twice about shutting it down if the weather were lousy.

If I were a gambling man, I'd bet they will change the date for the Mt. Washington run.

However, for this cruise, I am keeping the date for the 21st no matter what (barring Hurricanes or any craziness like that).

That being said, I'm really excited to try out rt 118, which comes out around Lincoln, and if the Mt. Washington thing weren't going to happen, we would definitely head south from Lincoln instead of North.

So, I know it's short notice... but Dylan from SAABcentral is going to meet me at my place tomorrow and we are going to test out rt 118. If anyone else is interested let me know, and I can PM you my address. Dylan is meeting me at 11:30.

kanc is 112... 118 is the other side of lincoln.

If the Mt. Washington cruise turns up bust for the 21st the Kanc could be an option!
