boost gauge install questions (glowshift)

I want to wire it to the dash light fader. Im assuming that I hook up the red to that if I want the led to fade with the dash lights. What is the color of wire on the dash light fader that goes out to the dash lights??

Also, it needs a constant on power source (not turned on and off by the ignition. What is a good wire for that in the (back of the fuse box perhaps)?

Also, it has a headlight switch wire...what is the wire on the back of the round light switch knob that turns on and off?

For a constant power source I recommend using one of these and touching each fuse with the car totally off and the first fuse to light it up is a constant power as for the other stuff not sure

The glowshift gauges are LED and will not fade with the rheostat. LEDs require special regulators to do that.

good to know! if I put a resistor on it- would that do the job?

If we install LED's in our brake lights it set off the comand center, and you're supposed to throw a resistor inline to keep that warning from popping up (it senses amperage from what I understand). So I don't think that a resistor will do the trick.

To do this well, you're going to need a volt meter. Pull the rheostat out and find the ground. Then with the lights on, start testing other wires and see which one has a change in volts according to where you're moving the switch. That's your dimmer wire, tap and play! (Unless its LED like stated above).

Same idea, find a ground and test wires with the switch on versus off looking for 12 volts.

humm. the night dimming feature does not seem to work. I have the night dimming wire powered and its no different then without. eh, everything else works fine and its all installed now. I guess I could get some tint or something if it is too bright.
