In-dash gauge project

I put some gauges in my dash this weekend. I still need to do some "bodywork" to the panel and paint it. Ill eventually have all Autometer Ultra-Lite gauges to put in. I'm going to try and find a color that matches the original for when I paint it. Ill have some better pictures once I can get my hands on a good camera.

Not a bad idea, but what are you going to do with the air duct that fed that location?

I pulled the duct out and covered the port on the main air box in the center.

BRILLIANT.

I even have a spare dash at home to be able to do just that.

That's actually a great spot. Your vision doesn't have to stray much to see them does it?

Not much more than looking at the radio or sid. I'm pretty happy with it.

That looks awesome man, nice work. I'm wondering how you're going to feel in the winter though. My 'vert doesn't heat up enough as it is in cold Pittsburgh weather. Lol.

I figure I will get a little more air blowing out of the other vents which will make up for some of the lost heat. If not at least I have a while before I'll need it again. Where are you at in Pittsburgh? I go to school in Latrobe.

That's awesome.

I never used those vents anyway, it was always floor/defrost or windows down.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure I wont miss the vent. I should be able to get plenty of heat using the other dash vents or floor / defrost vents.

After I had this all mocked up and put in I thought about doing it on the far left vent, just because it would be closer. Sucks I didn't think of that earlier.

Same to you. Any get togethers around there? Not much car-wise at my school.

Just bought an ultra-lite oil pressure gauge last night off ebay. I will probably sand and paint the dash when I put that in. Should look much better with 2 matching gauges and a coat of paint.

That looks good! You're motivating me to finish up the dash that I have. It has two gauge pods on the left vent and three on the right formed already, just needs to be touched up, painted (or maybe some CF wrap) and need to find four gauges to put in besides boost/vac lol.

Thanks! I'm going to need room for another gauge or two eventually, but I'd rather not get rid of another vent. I might go the easy route and use the light switch hole.

You going to run oil pressure, egt, afr, and maybe oil or water temp then?

I forgot about the light switch hole...guess I can do six gauges lol. My current "stock" dash has the boost gauge in the light switch.

I was planning on those gauges, and probably oil temp over water. But I've got to spend some dollars then. Do the Autolite ones you bought have green back-lighting?
