Custom Steering wheel

Fitted my custom steering wheel last night, looks really sweet and feels many times better driving. Had it redone with better sport grips but no carbon or anything else. I will probably find a set of linear switches in black so it blends better. What do you think? Should I stock one?

All the leathers should be sent out today.
There was one shipping casualty. We have to sort that one out. DHL stabbed the box with some sort of shank..

Install is not too bad maybe 20 min. But anytime you are dealing with airbag you should have some experience.

I have found you often need an alignment afterwards though and a free loaner of a steering wheel puller from Autozone is usually required too.

Any word you on the CF ones, couple more weeks maybe?

The steering wheel is keyed there is no way to get it off center.

I have never used a puller on any Saab wheel. Loosen the nut a few turns whack the top of the wheel and it pops the taper. Super easy.

ya seriously, unplug the battery, unscrew the airbag, disconnect, pull off the wheel, and reverse.

Awesome.

I have only done steering wheel swaps on other GM's.

I thought the NG900-OG9-3 would have been GM-if-ied enough.

That makes this even easier.

Any tips for dealing with the airbag? I just disconnect the battery and be real careful with the clock spring. Anything else?

Nope. Done wheel swaps on Airbag'd GM cars twice now with no ill effects.

Put Momo leather wheels on though.

No, not on the Beater-etta, only the first one. After I was the first or 2nd person to do the swap I helped out another guy with his install. It required a bit of trimming to the column trim since the Momo hub adapter was a bit beefy.

You might want to wait for twenty minutes or so after disconnecting the battery, to let the backup power supply drain - at least, that's what the factory manual states. Better safe than sorry, with an air bag.......
