that just means you need to come out more often!

Progress is slow due to time constraints but its coming along.

heres a shot of the stable...airflow project in the garage, 9-5 "Aero" in the driveway, and viggen on the street! Running out of room!!

Carpet installed in the second pic and custom CF style seats in the 3rd pic!

What type of Seats are those and do they bolt straight in or do you have a Mount of some type for them?

^ He had to fab up some custom seat rails. I'm sure he'll post more details, but I talked to him over the phone about it a few times.

Coming along nicely Drew!

Aero02 is correct..... Rear seats needed a custom cross member. The fronts however just need the slider rails bent 90 degrees in the front. Drilled some new holes and they bolted right up to the existing front seat cross member.

oh and they are universal CF Style reclineable seats, craigslist score! These will match the new CF hood i got for it too...will post pics when the new hood is on!

i have a some pics i will post up soon of the seat cross member....i still need to get some tabs welded on it to make it perfect.

This is definately an epic build, how will you be able to drive any of your other cars once this is done? I wouldnt want to get out of it ever.

update...

so i got the last of parts being shipped to make the car complete.
-rocker sills
-oil cooler
-carpet retainer molding strips

I've now started looking into the engine to see what needs to be done to get it running.

new gear shift pin has been installed
coolant overflow tank has been thoroughly cleaned of any grime
volvo IC has been mounted (i just need to route the IC hoses)
vacum hoses appear to be a mess and not routed correctly (a diagram of how the vacum hoses should be routed would be of great help)

I pulled the spark plugs last night and was surprised to find:
Cylinder 1 – Denzo plug gapped at .035
Cylinder 2 – Bosch Platinum plug with the center electrode missing
Cylinder 3 – Bosch Platinum plug gapped at .040
Cylinder 4 – Bosch Platinum plug gapped at .045

I have a new set of NGK 7es gapped at .024 that i will be installing. However im curious if i should pull the valve cover to see if i can find the missing electrode?
Any thoughts?

First, glad you found the parts you needed. The stuff I got of my parts car wasn't all that great (especially the oil cooler which had hit a curb at some point). I really didn't want to send you a bunch of crap for such a nice project.

Vacuum hoses are a hodgepodge even when they are on correctly. Do a google image search on Saab 900 motor and you'll find plenty of pics you can use for reference.

Pulling the VC won't get you a missing electrode. It would be in a piston chamber. As a precaution, you can put a strong magnet on a flexible piece of tube, snake it down the spark plug hole and swirl the tube around in the cylinder. Short of magnetic electrode fishing, you'll have to pull the head.

thanks for not selling me any crap turbocon

How different is an N/A intake manifold and TB vs a Turbo Intake Manifold and TB?

the first noticeable difference to me is the Turbo TB appears to have vacuum nipples where the N/A TB doesnt. The manifolds appear to be identical but not sure if they are ported differently.

i got a couple more but have not downloaded them yet....

ok folks i ran into a snag....can someone post a pic of what a turbo TB should look like. I have two TB's and both are different.

im guessing one is from an 91 900 n/a and one is from an 80's turbo possibly.
i can get the part #'s if needed

heres the deal ....the one that was on the car did not have the 3 vacum nipples coming from the top of the TB, However it did have an inlet on the top (manifold side)

the one i replaced it with has the 3 vacum nipples on top but the inlet on the top of the TB is plugged.

i've looked at lots of engine pics online and they all seem to have the lines routed differently.

My questions is which style TB should i be using?

heres an example to show what im talking about......

Where'd you get the CF hood?

Also, I notice a Whaletail and euro rear decor panel now... where'd you score those?

its been a while but I have cleared the hood as it was being used as a storage table for the last few months, the hatch will remain as a secondary storage cubby for the time being.

Anyhow i was able to bang out the mangled oil cooler housing and mount a used oil cooler. I also finished the TB side volvo IC piping, had to notch some metal from the belly but fits nicely. Looking forward to doing the turbo side piping so that i can install the front airflow bumper.

car still needs a
new battery
thermostat switch housing
tires

will post updated pics soon
