Modifying exhaust
New to the Saab scene. Have a 01 9-5. Wanna do a exhaust change but not entire system yet. I know to get a louder sound you can do a muffler delete. I've also been hearing of doing a resonator delete also? There are 2 of them correct? And/or a CAT delete also? Guess question is am I good at just the muffler delete and then straight pipe or what?? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are a few catback systems available for sale - BSR and a no name brand on ebay. I'm not sure a muffler delete would do much except make things louder. I guess it depends on what sound you are going for. Performance increase would be negligible, if any, without a tune. You could get a catback system and upgrade to a 3" downpipe later if you are on a budget.
Generally the performance roadmap for the 9-5 is: - Maintenance items: good DIC, vacuum lines, sparkplugs, etc. - Tune - Exhaust upgrades (downpipe being the biggest performance gain, cat back) If you plan on doing the exhaust, maybe wait for the tune until after you do those parts. |

No need. Put a nice 3" front pipe with race cat and then maybe a low restriction Borla or Flow-Master muffler with 2.5" all the way back. That'll give you lots of good sound without being annoying on long road trips. It'll also offer good performance. |

Magnaflow or Borla are both highly recommended for your Saab 9-5.

I got my Magnaflow exhaust pipe from 4wheelonline a year ago. The shop offers a diverse range of exhaust system that will fit your budget and suits your car's need. To save time and effort try to check some DIY videos on YT and read reviews on the internet before purchasing and installing an aftermarket part.

No, those are bots writing automated responses.
If you are looking at inexpensive cat back systems, some options are the BSR https://genuinesaab.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=423 There is a brand called OBX that is sold on ebay. I had one on my 9-5 wagon and it was fine. Exhausts are fairly expensive for these cars (very low volume to sell anymore), so some people have just had exhaust shops build one for them. The cat back, that is, not the downpip. |

I never liked loud exhausts, though.
