Radio Question-

When I got my 9000, the radio was not working. Someone had entered the wrong code and all it would do is beep. So I found the radio code and looked at the code that had been previously entered.

Comparing the 2, I noticed that the code entered was only 1 number off what was written in the owners manual. I thought someone had just made a mistake. Anyways, let the car sit on accessories for 1 hour so I could enter the new code. I entered the code in the owners manual and it didn't work.

I've heard that this is a sign that the radio is fried. Any truth to this?

I doubt the radio has been replaced.

You know you can just hold down "band" iirc and it asks for the code again. What happens when the right code is entered? does it just beep as if its the wrong code? Are you sure its the right code?

Holding down band doesn't work if it's been entered wrong too many times. You need to let the car sit on for 1 hour before you get another chance to enter the code.

Pretty sure it's the right code.
I have the original radio documents. The serial number of the radio and code are printed on a sheet. The serial number of the radio matches the one in my car but the code does not work. I'm stumped.

I know that its a different year and radio, but my 94 had a fuse that was in the back that was bad and acted like you described, wouldn't hold the code. It was like a 5 amp fuse.

If your the owned/can prove it, the dealer can give the original code. The HKs are nice units for OEMs and they do float up for sale.
