cooling fan resistor

Locating the resistor for the cooling fan on my 01 9-3 has proved a futile effort. I am now going to buy a complete cowl assembly in order to replace it. Posts regarding substituting other resistors are curious to me, since my attempt at that didn't work. The particular combination of resistance, wattage and composition are not available from any manufacturer I can find, including the major sellers like Digi-Key.

I need to know how to determine that a fan is the 330 watt two speed model, which is what I need to replace. Does anyone know how to do that ?

It's been a while, but replacing the resistor is pretty common.

here's the wiki
NG 900/9-3 Fan Resistor Replacement - The Saab Tech Wiki

here's another thread I found by searching "fan resistor"
https://www.saablink.net/forum/car-pr...only/89738.htm

All the info you'd ever need is in there.

That 'spilling coolant' thread is mine. I bought one of those resistors, but it didn't work.

What I really need is to know how to determine that a motor (which is attached to a replacement shroud/motor) is the correct one - 330 watt two speed.

Which fan: 250 or 330 watt for 02 SE? - SaabCentral Forums

Would you like me to repair it for you, too?
