Sputtering, hesitant cold start

My 03 SE has constant difficulty during cold starts. As the temps start to drop it is getting even worse. I've had the car to two Indy shops but neither could figure out the issue. When starting cold, the engine cranks fine and starts, but then hesitates and sputters, sometimes even shutting off. If it doesn't shut off, it will usually right itself within 10 seconds.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Try this: While cold, prime the fuel pump 2 or three times by turning the key to ON, waiting 3 seconds, going OFF, then back to ON for 3 more seconds. Try to start it after that.

If I don't prime the fuel pump in my 9-5 it will stumble for the first few seconds, or experience a long crank.

My OG9-5 and NG900 do the same thing, but like Saabeh, I let them price first and pop right off.

The check valves at the pump are probably toast.
