Replacing the ECU unit in my 2000 9-3

I'm currently using my keyless remote to override the erratic ECU unit in the car, it won't recognize the key. I start the car by turning the ignition to on pressing one of the buttons on the remote turning the ignition off and then on to start the car.
I'm replacing the current ECU with a salvaged one from the same year, model and engine car. The salvage place has a 60 day warrantee on the unit just in case.
I know that I'll have to take it to a SAAB mechanic to marry the keys and car to the replacement unit. My question is can I still use the remote to override the replacement ECU so I can drive the car to the SAAB mechanic's shop... Any thoughts ?

No, the replacement TWICE won't unlock the immobilizer in the engine ECU.

Also, unless you've gotten matching keys with the used TWICE, only a few facilities can initialize the TWICE to add new keys.

Likely, either the transponder in your key has died or the reciever ring around the ignition key has a problem.

I think you can get your original TWICE to learn new keys since you do still have a remote it recognizes.
