limp 18 open sid value

Hey I was wondering if anyone had any clue what this means limp: 18? I just got it after a few spritted runs. I got it alwile ago but I can't remember why and couldn't remember what I did to fix it. Anyway I have a jzw stg3 ecu with fpr full exhaust intercooler and t5 cams. The car runs great with this and NO CEL is lite.

I believe this is the amount of times it has seen LIMP mode during your trip. Or it could indicate a type of limp mode, I forget. Either way, your throttle body is probably at the end of its life (if its a T7 9-3).

Yea I have no clue I'm more on the throttle body on its way out hell my viggen has 124 and as far as I know original tb. I asked jzw he did the tune on the car and he said he's seen it before but it has never caused any issues, Like my car still drives perfect. So after that I was like ok if something breaks horribly I'll get a light haha or some parts on the ground

Well once the TB goes fully into limp mode, it will need to be replaced. You will see a large difference in driving.

Yea that happened to me in my moms 9-3 after I cleaned it once. The damn thing would barely run. So after that I realized you can't clean them that was years ago and before I knew anything. I still have that one laying around somewhere now that I think of it

You can clean them, but you should unplug the battery before you remove it and be careful not to knock the LIMP mode bracket down on the throttle cable side. As an aside, you can fall into LIMP mode and easily reset it on the side of the road. I had a failing TB and I would have to reset it once a month until it permanently limped home haha.

doing a quick search on limp mode brought me to this thread. Didn't really help me out and I wanted to add to it.

So I was just talking to mikeyd(mikedtuning.com) about this issue. If you have later firmware or a certain one and your open SID shows two limp parameters the one that only matters is the first limp on the list.

More than likely your second "limp" will always have a value to it and you shouldn't pay any attention to it.

I just did a new throttle body swap on my 04 9-5 aero and had been monitoring this wondering what was going on with it. the car is meeting its request and running stronger than ever.

I my previous 9-5's never had this second limp and my gfs 04 aero doesn't even have it. Saab made some funky firmware changes. Time to rename the parameter and move on.

Oh yea and new throttle bodies are awesome!! no rev hang and a much smoother throttle response throughout . Did see a slight improvement in mpgs as wel. Car runs sweeet.
