That's actually easy to fix, especially if there's no perforation...

I think your viggen is worth fixing for sure!

If its not too bad, get a grinder and try and shave off as much as you can, bondo, prime and paint (paint codes available online).

I'm sure a body shop will take car of it for a couple hundo's.

I hope I caught it early enough... Can't afford a new car payment and have spent to much on this thing the last few years.....

I will snag some pics and post up, rust is small so hopefully I caught it early enough.

No worries dude, it's extremely hard to find a car older than 5 years with no rust where I'm from. You car will likely be fine for many more years, just when you get a chance remove the rust and patch it up. It can be like cancer, if not treated before it gets too large. I happen to have a physical hole in each side of my NG.

Haven't taken pics yet (cracked the screen on my phone last week and need to get a new phone) but stopped by the shop. The owner wasnt there but another person I know came out and looked at the car.

Rust is almost completely across the rubber seal on the door jams on the passenger side, good size spot of rust at b pillar. But as I thought it looks like the metal is solid behind it, rusting from outside in.

With fixing this... Remove rocker panel, remove rear door to properly fix rust. Then paint partial rear 1/4 and clear entire 1/4 plus fix some bubble issues where the rear wing sits on the hatch and repaint he guessed $1k. Stated that's worse case and it could be $750 ish to repair.....

Going to stop by next week and talk to the owner who is the one who will give me a more exact estimate. Going to see if I can do some of the prep work myself at their shop to save money.....

Had to take my wife's jeep in to fix some issues and talked to my friend/mechanic about my viggen. I told him I need to bring it in so they can fix the rust and also the cracked flex pipe.

His opinion was to sell the car and look for something else mostly due to parts being difficult to find for my Saab.

I haven't had the time or money to fix the rust but I think I will drop the car off tomorrow or Monday so they can fix It up.

Good call Gary, what the hell do they know?!

I'm at the crossroads with my Aero wagon due to a combination of rust and oil consumption. It should be a no brainer, just drive it into the ground and move on... but what do I replace it with? You just can't get anything else like it!

How much do you think the viggen is worth? For me, my 900 is worthless to sell. I doubt I'd get more than 2k, even though I've invested a boatload more. Point is, it's worth more than that to me. It's not eating any hay, and so I will probably never sell it. It's a cool older saab. I figure in ten years it will still be a cool older saab. More so for the viggen. Don't sell, fix it and drive it, enjoy ! When you have enough coin to buy some other driver, put the viggen away for sunny days!

I have had zero problems with parts availability for OG 9-3's. So sick of people asking me, "How do you get parts, they are out of business?" Roll-eyes .

Thanks for the comments

Yea.... It kinda pissed me off when he said that however he was also correct. He stated my car is getting tired & my biggest concern with the car is loosing a motor. My guess is after I get the body looking all nice the motor will let go.....

Value wise probably worth a few thousand the way it sits now and after I spend probably a grand on body work.... That might add another grand to the value.... Guessing $5k max due to the mods I have done but yea it would be difficult finding a Saab fan to throw that money on the car. Thus..... I am leaning to fixing it up..... When the motor lets go I will probably fix that and just keep the dam thing. Always told myself I would never sell the old SPG I had which I did sell. Never told myself I would or wouldn't sell the viggen thus probably keep the dam thing

For a 14yr old car that's been driven pretty hard its life (realized yesterday I have owned the car for 103,000 miles) it's been very reliable. Like mentioned never had issues getting parts and fortunantly I haven't needed many parts
