B204L In a 2003 Convertible?

I'm in search of an engine for the SE 5-Door we bought. I looked on Car-Part and it's showing "N" Vin # B204L Engines in 2003 Convertibles.

I'm just trying to figure out if that's right. Anyone know?

I'm still searching the threads, and it looks like I can swap my bad B205R for the B204L by stripping it down to a short block and putting my B205R components on it. The only things that are questionable is if I can use the B204 Head or if I should swap to the B205 head.

00- og 9-3 definitely came with a b205. You can use the b204 block and head gasket with the 205 head

03 vert will have a b205

I just did the same thing with a block swap
Keep the b205 head, timing cover, oil pan and bolt them up to the b204 block with a b204 headgasket

Ah... Well that's the other thought... However I think I figured out that the "B204L" is actually a B207... Just because it's showing 2003+ motors in that category... I guess Car-Part isn't always right.

B204, here we come. Now I just have to find one... lol

Well it's not for me, otherwise I would, it's for my sister in law. All she wants is the car to be fixed for "as little as possible" and to be reliable...

well she might notice a little more fuel consumption due to the pistons weighing more. but the b204 is more reliable

Joe are you doing this swap yourself? I'm currently building this exact engine setup for a 9-5, can shoot you some pics of spots you'll have questions about along the way. I've done a bunch of these, got the "recipe" down

Yup, I am doing this swap myself. Well, with the help of a friend of mine who is known as the Neon Engine swap master (2.0 to 2.4)... lol I figured the two of us together with some internet help can figure it out... And Muscle things around. When you have a chance if you can e-mail them to [email protected] it would be AWESOME!

I saw a 99 9-3 convertible on craigslist, it was in a rear end accident but the front looks fine and the engine has only 51k miles on it. 1999 Saab 9-3 Conv parts car

Yeah, I caught that one too... $1150 for the engine, which really isn't bad for only 51k miles.
