If I wanted 15mpg, I'd drive a corvette

My car is getting the worst mileage any saab has ever gotten (including the trollblazer).

I got pretty crappy gas mileage when i drove to montana from minnesota. On the way back from minnesota, I got a CEL; O2 sensor bank 1 channel 1. I pulled the O2 sensor off my 95 (which got 29mpg running 30% E85 on highway, pretty damn good IMO) and put it in the 97.

Now I get 15 miles per gallon on the highway. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?

I readapted twice, no affect. Plugs are new, air filter is K&N in a swiss cheesed airbox with <3000 miles on it. O2 sensor cleared my CEL, and I just put 60 miles on it to confirm the CEL didn't come back. I'm gonna try replacing the fuel filter tomorrow, as well as putting in my spare ecu w/stage 3 tune to see if it mileage gets any better. Car is stock other than wheels, air filter, and an SSQV.

The cars pulls hard for a stock ng900, boosts slightly into the red, idles and drives fine, doesnt smell rich. Sad panda

Am I missing something?

Ok, well I was just joking. Everytime I browse the site and you post something I get blinded by the Angry Czech. Who tuned it?

I had a problem with random cel's and shitty gas mileage on my 96 when I first picked it up. After I swapped the turbo and installed fresh gaskets on the exh manifold the o2 sensor codes disappeared, so did the random misfires...and with a new set of tires the fuel economy went up by about 3mpg.

Check the EVAP purge valve and also change out the fuel filter. Plugs gapped proper? Also a failing cat converter can cause poor milage.

94-95 900SE's have a front O2 sensor with a different part number than 96-97 900SE's....

Get the right O2 sensor in there and see what happens.

you can have my 1969 145, if you would like 15mpg regularly... that way you appreciate the SAAB more when it runs... works for me.

I know I know, back to my cave now, going.

I am in a similar battle here. When I pulled my downpipe from the old car, I used the front o2 sensor from the new car in it, but I couldn't get the rear o2 sensor out. So I used the rear one from the 1999 lpt and the front one from the 02 aero in the 02 aero.

I have been having this odd hesitation under WOT. I realized yesterday that the rear o2 sensors have different part numbers for 99 and 02....

Gonna swap that out this afternoon and put it in. Hopefully it will solve my issues that I am having.

When i read your post, it got me thinking pretty quickly about swapping o2 sensors. Seems that the cars still run, and very well but something or another just isn't "right".

Good luck with trying the right sensor
